Trader Joe’s Boozy Chocolates

Trader Joe’s does a seasonal 36-piece box of Trader Joe’s Boozy Little Chocolates, containing chocolate truffles flavored with London Gin, Scotch Whiskey, Navy Rum and Prosecco. If you want a change from chocolate truffles, Trader Joe’s also does an inexpensive Bourbon Cake Mix. Yum. If you don’t live near a Trader Joe’s or the chocolates aren’t in stock, don’t worry. You can buy their boozy chocolates on Amazon, and even on eBay.

Sugar Plum and Rum

Sugar Plum Gourmet Chocolates has a range of gift boxes for Valentine’s Day, including one boozy chocolate option: a Wine Truffle Box Assortment, in a box shaped like a wine bottle. Their regular chocolate bars also include a Hot Buttered Rum: white chocolate, rich butter, and spiced rum. You can order here, and on Amazon.

Chocolate Bottles

VSC (Very Special Chocolates) does a fun box of 40 chocolates, with four different flavors: Jim Beam, Remy Martin, Sauza Tequila, and Grand Marnier. Each chocolate is shaped like a bottle, with the appropriate wrapping paper. You’ll find them at places like WalMart, Costco, Sam’s Club and other stores.

Boozy S’mores

The Malvi Mallow Company produces the ultimate fireside treat, though don’t try toasting these Spiked Espresso S’mores. They contain marshmallows with coffee extract and a dash of coffee liqueur, the perfect way to end your Valentine’s meal at home. You can order them from Malvi online, or get them from Amazon.

Anthon Berg Chocolate Liqueurs

Anthon Berg has one of the widest selections of boozy chocolates. They make chocolates in the shape of bottles from the likes of Jim Beam, Mount Gay Rum, The Famous Grouse, Cutty Sark, Cointreau, and even cocktails including a Margarita, a Mojito, and a Strawberry Daiquiri.

Piece, Love and Chocolate

If you’re lucky enough to live anywhere near Boulder, Colorado, don’t miss the fantastic Piece, Love and Chocolate shop at 805 Pearl Street. Apart from regular chocolates they make a range of boozy chocolates using spirits and beers from local breweries and distilleries. They do a Colorado Spirits Collection which includes such delights as Margarita Truffles, a Stranahan’s Whiskey Ganache, and a Boulder Creek Port and Fig chocolate.

Jack Daniel’s

If the sound of Jack Daniel’s in Swiss chocolate rocks your boat, you need to go to The Vermont Country Store. You can’t get these from Jack Daniel’s itself, but the store has a wide selection of booze-filled chocolates including rum balls, mini pints of Guinness made of dark and white chocolate, Cognac Cordials, vodka and tequila chocolates, and Butlers Gunpowder Gin Truffles.

Tequila Truffles

In New York, the FIKA small chain of chocolate shops offers a jar filled with tequila truffles or, as they call it, happy hour in a jar. They use the premium QUI extra añejo tequila with 70% dark chocolate, and a dash of lemon salt.

Rye Whiskey and Saké

The classy New York chocolatier Xocolatti has some very unusually-flavored chocolate truffles, and among them are of course some boozy chocolates. They include a Tennessee Rye Whiskey, and a chocolate infused with the Japanese rice wine, saké.

The Glenlivet

The Brooklyn-based MarieBelle chocolates will ship for you. Their luxury boozy chocolate offering is their 9-piece Glenlivet Collection, using a Glenlivet blend but ideal for eating while taking a sip of single malt whiskey.

The Ultimate Booze and Chocolate Gift

If you really want to push the boat out, you can of course buy your booze and chocolates separately. Vosges in Chicago sells a combination of their ultimate 9-piece Exotic Truffle Collection, featuring ingredients such as Hungarian paprika, wasabi, and Indian curry powder, which they pair with a bottle of Krug champagne. It’s a bargain at only $295 (plus shipping), and not a bad alternative to boozy chocolates.

The rise of the Coffee and Tea Sommeliers

Just like wine Sommeliers, there are true connoisseurs—coffee and tea sommeliers—who go beyond the milk, syrup and cream and can tell just by tasting, observing the residue and smelling a coffee or tea where the bean or leaf that made it came from, what type it is and even recommend the best pairing to enjoy it with.
