Overview

Founded in 1832 as Scotia, our distillery survived a decline in the industry in the early part of the 20th century, although it was silent between 1928 and 1933, when it was acquired by Block Brothers. Campbeltown was, reportedly, the ancient seat of the Scottish Parliament set up here by King Fergus in 503AD. Indeed the first site of the Scotia distillery in Parliament Street is said to be on the site from where the Stone of Destiny came, the stone on which all Scottish Monarchs were crowned. The Glen Scotia distillery has been operating in the shadow of its more famous neighbour Springbank for almost two centuries. In 2000 staff from Loch Lomond distillery took over production at Glen Scotia.
