Kavalan distillery is the first and only Taiwanese whisky distillery. It is owned by the King Car Group, and is located at Yuanshan , a rural township in the western part of Yilan County, Taiwan. The distillers import the barley from Europe, and the copper pot stills were built to order in Scotland. In 2015, Kavalan’s Vinho Barrique expression was named the world’s best single malt whiskey by World Whiskies Awards.
