Why take this SommClass?

What is the best wine region in Italy?

Tuscany is home to Italy's most scenic vineyards, verdant rolling hills and likely the country's best-known wine, chianti. It is Italy's most ancient wine-producing region, dating back to the 8th century BC, and its wines are often blends that incorporate its native Sangiovese grapes.

What wine is popular in Italy?

Sangiovese. Sangiovese is one of my favorite reds from Italy, as it is the most widely planted grape variety in the country. Wineries make great wines with this grape - for example, Brunello di Montalcino. Chianti and Vino Noble di Montapulciano are other great examples of Sangiovese.

What is the oldest winery in Italy?

Castello di Brolio Among the highlights of the Castle road is Castello di Brolio, a huge Chianti Classico-producing estate and the oldest winery in Italy. Since 1141 the Castle has belonged to the Ricasoli, a very historic family of the Florentine aristocracy.3,000 100% harvested by hand

What Italian wine is similar to Cabernet Sauvignon?

Lagrein is a very fascinating variety from Northern Italy in Alto Adige with black peppery notes and good acidity. It makes wines that have a striking resemblance to Cabernet Sauvignon.
