The distillery was founded in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill. Together with Lagavulin, Talisker represented a heavier side of the single malt spectrum. Talisker was the favourite whisky of writers Robert Louis Stevenson and HV Morton. In 2005 Talisker distillery celebrated its a birthday and released the 175th Anniversary without an age statement. Despite the relatively isolated location on a Northern island, Talisker is Diageo's most visited distillery.
